If you don't yet have one, the first step in obtaining your Wisconsin Hunter Education certification is to go online to obtain your Wisconsin DNR Customer ID Number.
Once you have your ID number, book your Field Day. By booking your Field Day early, you will make sure you will be able to complete your course in time for hunting season. You can find information about how to book your Field Day on the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Safety Education Page. Click the Hunting tab and look for Internet Courses.
Now sign up and study the Wisconsin HUNTERcourse.com online hunter education course. The online hunting education material is interactive, engaging, and approved by the Wisconsin DNR to teach you how to be a safe and responsible hunter.
After you have completed the course and passed you'll be able to print out your Field Day Voucher.
If you are 17 years of age or younger, you complete your hunter education certification by attending a one-day Field Day, which is a hands-on review led by a hunter education instructor followed by an exam. Remember to bring your Field Day Voucher to gain admittance to the Field Day!
For students 18 years of age or older, you complete your certification by attending a "test out", which are held bi-monthly at a DNR Service Center.
After passing your Field Day or Test Out, you will be issued a temporary Wisconsin Hunter Education Safety Certificate that you can use to buy a hunting license. A permanent card will follow in the mail. Get more information about Field Days and Test Outs.
