The mandatory field day for internet students is a five hour live course, specially designed for students who have already taken and passed the basic hunter education course online.
The Field Day is led by volunteer hunter education instructors who will provide the students with "hands on" practical training in the loading, unloading, casing and safe handling of firearms. Live firing exercises will give each student the opportunity to experience shotgun shooting at aerial clay targets. Firearms and ammunition will be provided. Students must have eye and hearing protection to participate.
Field skills involving boats, blinds, tree stands, zones of fire and fences will be taught. Other subjects will include Delaware game laws and regulations, distance estimation and safe behavior in the field. A short progress control test is included. Most field day training takes place out of doors. Students should dress appropriately.
