If you're 11 years of age or older, the New Mexico Field Day Voucher allows you to attend a scheduled Hunter Education Course where you will complete your hunter safety training, consisting of hands-on exercises and a final written exam, to obtain your Hunter Education Certificate.

Q. Is the New Mexico Field Day Voucher the same as a Hunter Education Certificate?

A. No. The Field Day Voucher is proof that you have passed the online homework portion of the hunter education course and allows you to take part in a single instructor-led Hunter Education Course, where you will be issued a hunter education certificate once you have successfully completed all activities and the final hunter safety exam.

Q. What is the advantage of taking the Online Hunter Safety Course?

A. The traditional New Mexico Hunter Education Course is about 16 hours in length plus additional study time and is usually given over a number of weeknights and/or weekends. With the online hunter safety course, you can get a head-start on Hunter Education certification by meeting the online homework portion requirement from home. You will only need to attend a single instructor-led Hunter Education Course to get your Hunter Education Certificate.

Q. Do I need to take this course to obtain a hunting license?

A. The New Mexico Hunter Safety Course can be completed in 4 Steps:

  2. Pass each chapter's hunting safety test
  3. Print the Field Day Voucher
  4. Attend a New Mexico Hunter Education Course with NMDGF to get certified.

A. The online hunter safety course is available to anyone at any time. However we strongly recommend that you locate a Hunter education course in your area before you get too far into the online course. Classes might be difficult to find in certain areas, so plan ahead!

Q. How do I pass the online hunter safety course?

A. In order to pass the online hunter safety course and get your Field Day Voucher, you must pass each chapter quiz with a grade of at least 80%.

Q. How do I obtain the Hunter Education Field Day Voucher?

A. Once you have successfully completed the hunter safety course you will be permitted to make payment for the Field Day Voucher. The one-time course fee is $24.95.
