Q. What is the "NL Outdoor Identification Card"?

A. The Newfoundland and Labrador Outdoor Identification Card is issued to all residents who have successfully completed the Firearms Safety/Hunter Education Course.

Q. How do I get my NL Outdoor Identification Card?

A. In order to attain your Outdoor Identification Card, residents must successfully complete the Firearms Safety/Hunter Education Course. To register for a course, please contact a College of the North Atlantic campus near you. Courses are offered throughout the year. Use the free online course as a study guide to help you prepare for your classroom course.

Q. Do I have to take a bow hunter education course?

A. Newfoundland and Labrador does not have a mandatory bow hunter education course. NL does however require all resident and non-resident hunter complete the FS/HE Course in order to hunt game with archery equipment. NL supports and endorses the International Bow Hunter Education Program as a voluntary program for archery hunters.

Q. Can I study the course at any time? Day or Night?

A. Yes. The course is available to you at any time of the day, every day of the week.

Q. What do I need to pass the online hunter education course?

A. To successfully complete each chapter quiz, you must attain a grade of at least 80%.

Q. How to Get a Replacement Newfoundland and Labrador Outdoor ID Card?

A. Students who have completed the Newfoundland and Labrador Firearms Safety and Hunter Education Course can obtain a replacement Outdoor Identification Card by contacting the Department of Environment and Conservation's Wildlife Division, Conservation Services Branch at (709) 637-2006. Q. Is there a time limit to complete the online course?

A. You can take the online course at any time, day or night. However, courses must be completed within 90 days of payment at which time your access to the course will expire.
