The online Hunter Education Course is available to anyone at any time. However, we strongly recommend that you locate a Hunter Education Live Fire Range Session in your area before you get too far into the online course. Live Fire Range Sessions might be difficult to find in certain areas, so plan ahead!
In order to pass the online Hunter Education Course and get your Home Study Voucher, you must pass each chapter quiz with a grade of at least 80%.
There is no cost of the online hunter education course. It is free and will prepare you for the Live Fire Range Session to get your complete certification.
Note: Before you make a payment for the course, you need to have a valid Conservation Identification Card (CID) number issued by the New Jersey Fish & Wildlife. This is a customer identification number that will be present on any permit or license you obtain from the Fish & Wildlife. If you already have an outdoor license or permit from the Fish & Wildlife, you may already have a CID number.
If you have previously been issued a New Jersey Hunter Education Certificate and require a replacement or duplicate card, you can find more information at dep.nj.gov/njfw/wp-content/uploads/njfw/hntedupeform.pdf.
The Home Study Voucher is required to attend the New Jersey Hunter Education Live Fire Range Session. If you have lost your voucher, you can sign in to your exam center and print out a new copy.
