Q. How do I get my Nova Scotia Crossbow Certification?
A. The steps required to get your Nova Scotia Crossbow Certification are as follow:
- Register with the NS Department of Natural Resources. A valid Wildlife Resources Card (WRC) is required.
- Confirm registration on HUNTERcourse.com and pay for the course. $29.95 + HST
- Successfully complete the Online Crossbow Course and you're done!
- Optional – you can update your WRC by contacting the NS DNR and paying a fee of $7.14 + HST. This is not required as your information is automatically updated and the certification will be reflected on your new WRC once your current one expires.
Q. Is there a minimum age to get your certification?
A. In Nova Scotia, students must be at least 12 to take the Nova Scotia Online Crossbow Course. Students under the minimum age can still take this online course as a study tool, but will have to retake the course once they reach the minimum certification age. Please Note: Students MUST be of a minimum age of 16 years old before they can hunt deer with a crossbow and MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian (who is 18 years of age or older) and that has a valid Wildlife Resources Card (parent of guardian does not their crossbow certification).
Q. What is the "Nova Scotia Certificate of Completion"?
A. The Nova Scotia Certificate of Completion is for your records only. It shows that you have passed the online crossbow course, but is neither a valid license nor do you need to bring it with you while hunting. Once you have passed the course, the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources will be notified automatically that you have successfully passed the Online Crossbow Course.
