Up, Up and Away!

As a shotgun coach, I am always looking for new ideas to help students improve their shooting skills. One of the hardest concepts for a beginning student to grasp is the ability to follow and hit a moving target. The shotgun team tried to adjust the traps to slow down the clay pigeons; you can only adjust the traps so much. There had to be another way! The question became, is there a way to slow down the target so that the beginning students could understand the concept of following a moving target and be successful at hitting a moving target?  Beginning students love to shoot balloons so why not use balloons filled with HELIUM! With that problem solved, it was on to build a delivery system to release the balloons at a distance of 30 yards from the shooting line. Check out the video below.
